A Space to Share the Work: Second Home Studios Sponsors Overlap’s Show & Tell

Animation, Behind The Scenes, Model Making

This year, Second Home Studios is proudly stepping up as a sponsor of Overlap’s Animation Show & Tell! Overlap is the much loved Birmingham born event that brings together animators and animation lovers alike for an evening of creativity, community and chaotic fun. Founded and run by the fabulous award winning animator and director Louis Hudson, Overlap has become a quarterly highlight in the UK animation calendar. It a unique West Midlands event to showcase work, share ideas and hang out in a lively and supportive atmosphere.

Anything but your typical screening night

One thing to be aware of however, is Overlap isn’t your typical screening night. As its a show & tell experience, it allows filmmakers of all levels to submit their animations to screen. This can include pieces as short as one seconds, to more extended pieces. It allows creatives of all levels to present their work to audiences of peers and fans alike! While the submissions are great, that’s not everything the event has to offer! As a featured guest artist takes centre stage with their work, and Louis himself adds his trademark blend of performance and cosplay unpredictability as host!

Creative Community

At Second Home Studios, we believe strongly in the power of creative community, and that’s why we’re thrilled to support Overlap. It’s more than an event; it’s a platform that invites creatives to form connections, inspires growth and allows for experimentation. Whether someone is just starting out or has been animating for years, Overlap gives them a space to be seen, heard and celebrated. Sponsorship helps keep the night accessible and vibrant, reinforcing Birmingham’s place as a hub for animation talent. And we’re very proud to show off the amazing trophies we created, just for the events!

Events like Overlap remind us that animation thrives when people are encouraged to experiment, take risks and share unfinished ideas. We’re honoured to be part of this thriving community and can’t wait to see what brilliant and unexpected work emerges next.
