The Drum Roses Awards Win
We’re proud to announce Second Home Studios won a bronze award in the Illustration/Animation category of the The Drum Roses Awards. We were shortlisted for our recent stop-motion work, The Girls Who Turned To Water, made in collaboration with WaterAid UK.

The Awards
The Drum is a global media platform and the biggest marketing website in Europe. Every day they share up-to-the-minute industry news from around the globe. And, each month, they showcase marketing that is changing the world in their magazine. With bases in Glasgow, London, New York and Singapore, their award-winning journalists inform and inspire readers across all mediums.
Every year The Drum hosts a series of award events to celebrate achievements across the marketing and communications industry. One of their events, The Roses Awards, celebrates the fact that the best work needn’t come from the biggest cities. It emphasises many of the UK’s most talented creative’s work in its regions, rather than just in its capital city.
Finalists in our category included inspiring work from A+C Studios, BBC Creative, Motive Agency, Skylark Media, Aardman and The Leith Agency.
The Girls Who Turned To Water
The Girls Who Turned To Water highlights the impact that dirty water has on thousands of girls’ education. It is often a girl’s responsibility in a family to walk to collect water (which is often dirty). This can result in days away from the classroom. Without clean water they miss out on the knowledge to create change.
We wanted to keep craft at the forefront of the look and feel. So, we designed and built the puppets, sets and props imbued with a chiselled, textured finish. The water (both dirty and clean) was modelled and animated as in-camera replacements. Take a look at our dedicated portfolio page and read our insights on how this film was brought to life.
This project will not have been possible without the hard work from our crew:
