Second Home Studios had the wonderful opportunity to collaborate with Grass Roots. The goal was to produce an animated video to help share the brand’s story and spread awareness of their important work and values. Grass Roots is a cooperative for family-run farms across the USA, devoted to their craft of small-batch farming.
We used our creativity and story-telling expertise to craft an authentic and engaging animation. Sharing their whole story; from their principles of sustainable farming and the benefits of their regenerative agricultural practices to the exceptional quality of their pasture raised meats. Our aim was to create a video that was clear and informative; highlighting how their processes benefit not just the supply chain but also the environment.
Our goal was to develop a hand-made, crafted style that aligned perfectly with the natural aesthetic of Grass Roots, to help convey the love and care they put into their work.
To achieve this, we used a mix of different techniques. Stop-motion animated paper cut-outs, with a textured earthy feel were a perfect fit for the style and we expanded these elements with digitally created paper cut-outs that matched the original stop-motion. We used pixilation techniques to animate hands interacting with the environment, to help symbolise the key message at the heart of everything Grass Roots does – “Hands and Earth in Perfect Harmony”.
